1. What is Blaze?

Blaze is a High Speed Fiber Optic Internet service delivering download speeds of up to 50Mbps

2. What are the benefits of Blaze?

    • No delays when enjoying your favorite shows

3. How fast is Blaze?

With Blaze you can get download speeds of up to 50Mbps and upload speeds of up to 15Mbps. There are three speeds to choose from: 10Mbps, 20Mbps and 50Mbps.

4. How will Blaze add value to my daily activities?

Blaze meets the needs for faster internet connectivity especially in the age of high definition media. Your experience will be significantly different while streaming HD content over your TV, or while many of your family members use the internet simultaneously on their handsets, tablets and laptops.  For your Smart TV’s, Game Consoles, Streaming TV boxes, etc, an Ethernet connection is advisable for a better/more stable connection.

7. What is the upfront Cost?

There is an installation fee of $20,000.00 (VAT inclusive). Service is billed monthly and is based on the plan selected.

8. Can I get multiple Blaze connections in one (1) house?

Yes you can.

10. Is there a Contract?

Yes, there is a one year contract. The early termination penalty is 2 months rental (of the current service).

Blaze Modem

11. What is the cost for the Blaze modem?

You are required to pay a Blaze Equipment Rental of $1,500.00 per month. This device remains the property of GTT. Furthermore, if a customer decides to terminate the service before the end of the contract, an early termination fee of two (2) months rental (based on the current plan) is assessed.

12. Should I purchase a Wi-Fi router?

The modem router provided by GTT is a 2.4 GHz device with a range of 150ft. Customers can purchase their own Wi-Fi router or extender if required.​

13. If I have the 50Mbps plan will I get that speed over Wi-Fi?

The speed of internet over Wi-Fi is dependent on the modem capacity and also on the capability of the connected device (handset, tablet, laptop, SmartTV, etc.). Blaze is over a shared network so you will receive speeds up to 50Mbps based on the environment and layout of your home. Refer to the point above regarding Wi-Fi Extenders and point below for Speed Tests.

14. How do I run a Speed Test?

The speed test should only be done when there is only one device (device on which the speed test will be performed) connected in the house.  Tests should be done via a physical connection (Ethernet cable) to your computer.  You should use to test via a GTT server.

15. Is the BLAZE Modem a 2.4 GHz or 5GHz?

It is 2.4GHz which offers coverage for farther distances, but may perform at slower speeds depending on distance.

16. Will installation be done by GTT or by the customer?

New services and replacement will ONLY be installed by a GTT Technician.

17. How long do I wait for Blaze to be installed?

Service installation will take 7-10 working days after payment is made.

18. Can I relocate my Blaze modem within my house?

Yes. Once it is within the span of the internal cabling installed by GTT. However, if you need a complete relocation due to internal construction etc., please call GTT to schedule an appointment with a technician. This additional service costs $12,000.00

19. I am unable to get Wi-Fi signal at the other end of my house?

When installing the Blaze modem, it should be placed at a central location that would enable the signal to be properly dispersed. If the building is designed in such a way that this placement is not possible, one or multiple repeaters / extenders, or a wireless router with greater coverage capability may be required. 

20. How do I change my Wi-Fi password?

Your security is important to us, and protecting your network is just as important as protecting the physical space in which you live. To ensure that you are always in control of who has access to your Wi-Fi network, we advise that you change your password every few months.


Make sure that you are on your Wi-Fi network and follow these 7 simple steps:

Step 1Enter into your internet browser (Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge, Internet Explorer etc.) and then click Enter or GO.


Step 2: Enter Username and Password

Username: user

Password: gttuser


Step 3: After successful login to the Blaze terminal this window will appear to the left of the screen. Click on Configuration.


Step 4: On the configuration page, Click Wireless then Click Security.


Step 5: Backspace the Dots (*******) in the WPA/WAPI passphrase section.


Step 6: Enter new password 


Step 7: Scroll down and click Apply/ Save

22. If I am migrating from DSL to Blaze, can I keep my landline number?

Yes, you will be able to retain your current landline number.

23. Does GTT provide a landline instrument with the Blaze service?

No. New customers can purchase instruments from GTT or any other electronics retailer. Existing customers can use their current handset.

24. Can I have more than one (1) phone line?

Each Blaze modem can accommodate a maximum of two (2) landlines.

25. What are the existing calling rates for outbound calls from my Blaze 500 number?

GTT’s Blaze service comes with 450 free minutes for Blaze to landline calls and 450 free minutes for Blaze to Blaze calls after which you will be charged standard calling rates below:

  • Calls to mobile numbers: $18.00 + VAT
  • Calls to other blaze numbers: $2.50 + VAT (numbers starting with 592 5xx-xxxx)
  • Calls to traditional land line numbers: $14.00 + VAT
26. How will I get a bill?

Your bills are available in  two locations:

  1. The mobile app (iOS and Android)
  2. MyAccount 
27. How do I pay my bill?

Bills can be paid in the following ways:

  1. The mobile app (iOS and Android)
  2. MyAccount 
  3. Mobile Money (MMG).
  4. GTT Retail Store or Bill Payment Agent.
28. Is there a charge or transfer fee if I am moving from one location to another?

There is a transfer fee of $12,000.00

Glossary of Terms

2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz

They are simply different frequencies and each has its advantages and disadvantages. The primary differences between the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz wireless frequencies are range and bandwidth. 5GHz provides faster data rates at a shorter distance, whereas 2.4GHz offers coverage for farther distances, but may perform at slower speeds.

Ethernet Cable

Ethernet cables connect devices together within a local area network, like PCs, routers, and switches.


Mbps means megabits per second. Therefore, it indicates the speed at which data is transferred.

Stabilizers and Surge Protectors

Stabilizers and surge protectors are two similar devices used to help maintain the correct voltage for electrical devices. Stabilizers ensure that the voltage being fed to electrical devices is stable, by adjusting the provided voltage up or down to keep it at the correct levels. Surge protectors protect against electrical surges. When a surge is detected, a surge protector diverts the surge to the ground, preventing it from reaching the connected devices.

These are devices that extend the Wi-Fi coverage.
